Merchant Processing
High-risk merchant processing
Some businesses are classified as high risk by banks and processors because of their industry, how they sell, or their processing history. We help these businesses apply for merchant processing through Luqra. Every account is subject to underwriting.
Who it is for
- Businesses in industries that banks and processors often classify as high risk
- Businesses that sell online, by subscription, or with card-not-present sales that carry more chargeback exposure
- Businesses with a short processing history or high average tickets
- Businesses that were declined or closed by another processor
How we help
- We talk through what you sell, how you sell it, and your processing history
- We help you put together a complete, accurate application
- We submit it to Luqra for review
- We keep you updated during underwriting until a decision is made
What to expect
- Underwriting is done by the processor and its bank, not by us.
- Approval is not guaranteed. Some businesses are declined.
- Terms and requirements for high-risk accounts are set by the processor and can differ from standard accounts. Depending on the business, they may include a reserve or other conditions.
- You may be asked for extra documents, such as processing statements, bank statements, or details about your products, refund policy, and website.

High-risk processing: common questions
Will I be approved?
We cannot promise approval. The processor and its bank decide after underwriting. Our job is to help you send a complete, accurate application.
What will I need to apply?
Usually business and ownership details, a description of what you sell and how, and recent processing statements if you have them. The processor may ask for more.
Why can terms differ for high-risk accounts?
Processors weigh the risk of chargebacks and losses. Depending on the business, they may set requirements such as a reserve. The processor sets the terms, not Top Choice Payments.
Can I take cards online and in person?
High-risk accounts can cover in-person, online, and keyed-in payments, and ACH where approved. What is available for your business depends on underwriting.
Disclosure: Top Choice Payments is an independent sales agent and reseller. It is not a bank or payment processor. High-risk merchant processing is provided by Luqra and its banking partners. All accounts are subject to application, underwriting, and approval, and approval is not guaranteed. Terms are set by the processor.
